Birthday Eve

Tonight we celebrated our last night before becoming parents with Katie and Sam at Peter's Sushi. Yummy! Of course I got to pick since I'm not really sure after this when I will get to eat next. And no, I didn't eat anything raw! The food was great and the company was even better.

Tomorrow I'll be 39 weeks pregnant. I posted a pic below of my big huge belly. It sticks way on out there! I guess that's what happens when you're only 5'2" and carrying a big baby. I know that it will all be worth it tomorrow when I see Grady's sweet face for the first time :)

Chris and I couldn't be more excited about meeting our little man. People keep calling us and asking if we are nervous, and surprisingly enough, neither one of us are...yet. I'm sure tomorrow morning at the hospital will be a different story!

The last night before we became parents :)

Mama one day shy of 39 weeks pregnant. Thank goodness I don't have to go all the way to 40 weeks. Can you imagine how much more that belly would stick out by then??
I can't wait for my next post as it will surely have baby pics :)

Grady's Sweet Room

Grady's nursery is finally coming together! It's about time since I've had his crib since oh...Octoberish? I got started on his nursery really early and have been working on it since and it's still not 100% complete - but complete enough to bring our little guy home next week! The curtains are on backorder and there is art to be hung, but I'm sure Grady's not gonna care.

I picked out Grady's bedding before I was ever pregnant with him. As most of you know, I was adamant about not finding out the sex of my baby when I did get pregnant 'one day'. Since I didn't want to find out, I found this aqua and beige bedding that I thought would be perfect for either a baby boy or a girl. Well, the pregnancy hormones changed my mind about most things, including finding out. However, when shopping for bedding, I kept going back to the same one so I finally just ordered it!

Chris and I got super lucky to find the red rocker from Pottery Barn Kids after Christmas. I love the color red and I'm quite convinced that Grady will too, so I was tickled to find it. Red is my favorite color and it was also my Papa's favorite color (who was also named Grady) so I'm convinced it will be my Grady's fav too :) It took some talent tying in the red chair with the rest of the room, but with Mom's help, I think it all works now!

When Chris and I saw the beach bathroom at Pottery Barn Kids, we knew we had to have it for Grady's bathroom. We both think his bathroom is so much fun.

Grady's room is all I could have ever imagined. I wanted something different that didn't look like a picture straight from a catalog, but then again, I'm sure everyone says that. The only thing I didn't get to do is put up a chandelier. Chris said no way Jose to the chandelier because that was 'girly'. I didn't agree, but needless to say, I lost that argument...

Here are some pics of my almost finished nursery and bathroom.

Grady's Room when you first walk in - aren't the shoes precious?? I'm so glad my friend Courtney made Grady "I am fearfully and wonderfully made". We know that he is :)

The One About Birthdays!

So today is my birthday! Happy Birthday to me :) I'm struggling a little bit with this one since I'm turning 29. It's so hard to think that I'm celebrating the last year of my twenties. Oh how much fun my twenties have been! Turning 30 next year will be hard :(

However, it's been such a wonderful day! Chris got me a fabulous Coach purse that I just love! He gave it to me first thing this morning. Then, on the way to work, I got a call from the Dr...more about that later. At work, my work friends took me to lunch and we had so much fun. Then, no cooking for me tonight! Mom, Dad, and Katie came over with dinner and cake/cupcakes. It was all fabulous! Plus, they brought gifts, and any girl loves gifts :) I got some Philosophy perfume and body wash (our fav) from Katie, and a super cute hot pink Longchamp bag and flowers from Mom and Dad. 29 was such a good birthday!!!

The other fabulous 'gift' I got for my birthday was the nurse calling me this morning to tell me that Grady's birthday had been moved up to Sunday, May 23rd! That means our little man will arrive 12 days after my birthday and 11 days before his Daddy's birthday. His will be right in the middle. I'm so excited to see him, that I can hardly wait. I'm having a scheduled c-section because the litttle, uh no, large guy is already around 8 pounds! That's awfully hefty considering I have 3 weeks until my due date! I'm very fortunate to have a Dr who will not make me try to push and push out a large baby. So, he'll be born at 39 weeks, which is great with his ever-growing Mama!!

We are Nashville

So Chris and I spent the day Saturday trying to make our way through the flood. We left early in the morning for West TN for a wedding. Little did we know what was to come...
Though I-40 was already flooding on the way to the wedding, we didn't think much of it. Just a little water, right?? After a few hours there we decided to head home. Whew...that was an adventure! We are pretty sure that we were one of the last cars to make it through on I-40 before they closed it. How am I so sure of this??? Well, the Sheriff driving on the wrong side of the interstate coming head-on at us was a pretty good indicator. Our dear friends Courtney, Brandon, and Max were an hour behind us. What a difference and hour makes! We got home Saturday afternoon and they didn't make it home until Monday morning. Bless them!
After what seemed like years of swimming home, we made it in one piece and spent most of the remainder of the weekend at home taking in all the flooding tragedy and hoping to keep our own house dry. Chris and I know that we were VERY fortunate during the Great Flood to not have any damage.

I've never known so many people personally to lose everything. I'm so sad for all who lost their homes and loved ones. Only in the South do an elderly couple drown in a flood trying to get to church on Sunday. How heart-breaking!

Some feel as though The Great Flood didn't receive enough National news coverage. It definitely didn't, but it didn't for a reason. Only negative stories make the news and The Great Flood in Nashville was a story of neighbors helping neighbors and no looting or rioting in the chaos. It quickly turned from such a sad story to a positive one. I think because of this, we can all be so thankful to call such a wonderful place HOME! I know I am.
Here are some pics that we took of the flood. Some of our Nashville landmarks were some of the hardest hit. I don't have pics of those as I've tried to stay away from Ground Zero this week.

Our Publix at the bottom of our neighborhood. Never been so glad to live at the top of a hill!!
